The Learning Specialist, Inc., is an educational service developed by Edward C. Taylor, Ph.D., Child and Adolescent Psychologist. We work with two types of students: those who need to remediate learning difficulties and students who wish to enhance their academic performance. Learn more about our services below.
Our services
Learning Strategies
All students benefit from explicit training in the skills that support learning.
Math
Some students have difficulty learning math, while other students are capable but have come upon a stumbling block. Our teachers address both situations.
Reading
A student may have difficulty learning to read or reading to learn. We at The Learning Specialists are prepared to deal with either concern.
Test Preparation
Our individualized approach that prepares students to succeed on high stakes testing makes our program unique and effective.
Writing
Most students know how to write an excellent essay or paper, but have not been taught the key strategies for producing and organizing text. We provide students with powerful strategies to help them improve written communication.
Technology
Technology is increasingly more integrated into our world. Our program uses a hands-on approach to teach students how to use mainstream technologies as educational tools.
Edward C. Taylor, Ph.D.
Edward C. Taylor, Ph.D. is a Child and Adolescent Psychologist who has provided services to the Northeast Florida communities since 1984. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Florida in 1980 and completed both an internship and post-doctoral fellowship at the Kansas University School of Medicine. Currently, he is in private practice. Previously, he held faculty appointments with the Kansas University School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry and the University of Florida College of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics. He is on the Board of Directors of the International Dyslexia Association.
